From Nothing to Your First Session
Seven steps, in order, with what each one takes. You can do all of it yourself — there is no call to book and nothing waiting on us. Steps 1 to 4 happen at your kitchen table; step 5 happens at practice.
-
Register as a coach
About 2 minutesOpen the app on your phone or go to the web app and create your account. When you're asked what kind of account you want, choose Coach. Email and a password is the whole form — there is no card and nothing to cancel.
Already have a parent account for your own kid? Use the same email and pick Both, so your family and your team live in one login.
Pick the account type before you fill in the rest — it decides which tabs you land on. -
Create your team
About 1 minuteGo to the Teams tab and tap Create New Team. Name it the way your families would say it out loud — "Hillgrove Eagles", not "U12 Group B" — then pick the sport and season.
- Running several classes or age groups? Make each one its own team; they all sit under your account.
- Part of a club or league? Your director will give you a join code to link this team to the program — you can add it now or later.
One team per group you actually coach. You can rename it later; the roster comes with it. -
Add your roster
About 5 minutesOpen the team and add your athletes. Two ways, and the fast one is worth it:
- Paste a list — tap Paste a List (bulk add) and paste one athlete per line: their full name, then their date of birth after a comma. Paste straight out of the sign-up sheet or the email your league sent you.
- Quick Add — add them one at a time if you only have a few, or to fill in the stragglers later.
The preview tells you how many rows are ready and how many were skipped before anything is added, so a messy paste can't quietly mangle your roster. A roster of 8 or more athletes starts your Season Pass.
Check the ready/skipped count before you commit — skipped rows are almost always a missing date of birth. -
Hand out claim codes
About 3 minutesEvery athlete on your roster has a one-time claim code. This is the handoff — the one thing we ask of you — so do it in the same week you build the roster, while parents still remember signing up.
- One at a time — tap Share next to an athlete and send that family their code however you already talk to them: text, email, team chat.
- The whole team at once — open Coach Program and print the claim-code handout, then send the sheets home in kit bags.
Say why you're sending it. "This is free for you, it's how you see your kid's results after each session, and it's what keeps the team's account free" does more than the code on its own.
Each code links one athlete to one household, and it only needs to be used once. -
Record your first session
About 15 minutes at practiceFrom your team roster, tap Assess to run the whole group in one pass — pick the tests, then work down the roster entering scores. Each test carries its own "how to measure" guide, so you're not remembering protocols on the field, and it records offline and syncs when you're back on signal.
Whole-roster assessment is part of coach access, which your Season Pass turns on once you roster 8+ athletes. Before that you can still record athletes one at a time from the Assess tab — nothing you record early is lost or re-entered.
Then do it again about a week later. Two dates at least a week apart is what turns a set of scores into a trend, and it's the second thing the program measures.
Run the same tests both times. The comparison is the point — a one-off session doesn't show a family anything. -
Families claim and log a first height and weight
Their part — about 2 minutes eachWhat a parent does, so you can tell them in one message: create their own free account, go to Settings → Claim Athlete, enter the code you sent, then add a first height and weight for their athlete.
The height and weight matters because a parent is the only one who can record the weight — you can't do it for them. That measurement is what turns your scores into a full picture of how their athlete is developing, and it's the half of the bar that lives on their side.
Ask for both in the same message as the code. Chasing it separately is the single thing most likely to stall a team.
The parent account is free and stays free. Claiming costs nothing and asks for no card. -
Watch your bar in Coach Program
1 minute, then a weekly glanceOpen Coach Program to see exactly where you stand: Assess your roster, Test, then retest, and Connect your families, each with its own meter, plus the state of your Season Pass.
There is nothing to submit and nobody to email. The meters move as you record and as families claim, and the bar you're being measured against is on the screen the whole time.
If a meter is short, it tells you which one and by how much — that's the whole review process.
Set up already? The video guides cover what comes next — joining a club that did not exist yet, recording a drop-in from another group, who sees which announcement, and Coach's Focus.
If something's wrong
Email [email protected] and we'll sort it out. It helps if you include:
- Which step you were on and what you expected to happen
- Your team name, so we can find the right roster
- Your device and whether you were in the app or a browser
- A screenshot, if you have one
Common ones we can answer fast: rows skipped on a paste (usually a missing or badly formatted date of birth), a family who says their code doesn't work (usually already claimed), and a meter in Coach Program that looks stuck (usually growth entries the families haven't added yet).
Running a club, league or facility with several coaches? The rollout is on the Programs & Leagues page — every coach still follows these same seven steps.
